چکیده

The successful cultivation of microalgae in wastewater establishes a waste to profit scenario as it combines treatment stream with production valuable end-products. Here, growth and nutrient removal efficiency three different locally isolated microalgal cultures (Chlorella sp., Scenedesmus mixed consortium) cultivated anaerobically digested municipal centrate (ADMC) abattoir effluent (ADAE) was evaluated. No significant differences (P > 0.05) specific rate biomass productivity were recorded between Chlorella monocultures the culture grown both effluents. sp. found incapable ADMC ADAE throughout period resulting collapse no further measurements on growth, this alga effluent. Fq´/Fm´ values which represent immediate photo-physiological status be negatively inhibited when effluents period. recovered back normal (?0.6) after an initial drop. Ammonium rates significantly higher (?2 folds) for compared cultures. Nonetheless, observed phosphate total protein carbohydrate content produced similar using ADMC. However, chlorophyll carotenoids < than Overall, monoculture most efficient option treating while simultaneously generating rich (up 49%) that can potentially exploited aquaculture feedstock.

Methane production during storage of anaerobically digested municipal organic waste.

Anaerobic digestion of source-separated municipal organic waste is considered feasible in Denmark. The limited hydraulic retention in the biogas reactor (typically 15 d) does not allow full degradation of the organic waste. Storage of anaerobically digested municipal organic waste can therefore be a source of methane (CH4) emission that may contribute significantly to the potential global warmi...

Biochar from anaerobically digested sugarcane bagasse.

This study was designed to investigate the effect of anaerobic digestion on biochar produced from sugarcane bagasse. Sugarcane bagasse was anaerobically digested to produce methane. The digested residue and fresh bagasse was pyrolyzed separately into biochar at 600 degrees C in nitrogen environment. The digested bagasse biochar (DBC) and undigested bagasse biochar (BC) were characterized to det...

Releasing phosphorus from calcium for struvite fertilizer production from anaerobically digested dairy effluent.

Being a non-renewable resource and a source of potential water pollution, phosphorus could be recovered from animal manure in the form of struvite (MgNH4PO4.6H2O) to be used as a slow-release fertilizer. It was found recently that the majority of phosphorus in anaerobically digested dairy effluent is tied up in a fine suspended calcium-phosphate solid, thus becoming unavailable for struvite for...

Decomposition of Fresh and Anaerobically Digested Plant Biomass in Soil

Using water hyacinth [Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms) for wastewater renovation produces biomass that must be disposed of. This biomass may be anaerobically digested to produce CH4 or added to soil directly as an amendment. In this study, fresh and anaerobically digested water hyacinth biomass, with either low or high N tissue content, were added to soil to evaluate C and N mineralization c...

Microalgae to biofuels: life cycle impacts of methane production of anaerobically digested lipid extracted algae.

This study presents experimental measurements of the biochemical methane production for whole and lipid extracted Nannochloropsis salina. Results show whole microalgae produced 430 cm(3)-CH4 g-volatile solids(-1) (g-VS) (σ=60), 3 times more methane than was produced by the LEA, 140 cm(3)-CH4 g-VS(-1) (σ=30). Results illustrate current anaerobic modeling efforts in microalgae to biofuel assessme...
